Round 2, Day 7

They were able to pull Lincoln’s chest tube, the pacing wires and his femoral line! He was such a trooper. The chest tube looked like a hose coming out and the pacing wires had tiny hooks on the ends that scraped on the way out (ouch)
The femoral line was stitched in so that was a challenge to cut them out but IT’S DONE!

Lincoln stayed in the ICU the whole time because Lincoln is Lincoln and we wanted to be cautious. Dr. Dearani stopped by this morning and gave us the okay to head back to Philadelphia!! I quickly changed our flights, booked a hotel near the airport and bought a car seat! It was the fastest I’ve ever spent $500 in my life! Our flight leaves tomorrow morning!!
Lincoln will be at appointments Friday of this week and all next week. They will have to get to know new Lincoln with his new valve and cyro ablation.
Lincoln is going home without the medications he had been on that was preventing him from going into SVT. They THINK he won’t go into again but we just don’t know. Time will tell. The first few weeks home will be scary but we’ll be careful. We can’t wait to see Luna and be with our family!
I’m so proud of Lincoln. He shook Dr.Dearani’s hand and thanked him without even being prompted. He handled every poke and ouchie with little fusing and always recovered in record time. He was sweet to his nurses and slept through almost every night.
I can’t say how lucky I feel. May god bless the little ones still on the unit and the families that are waiting with them.
